Award Description: The Nevada Food Distribution Program received funds through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 to pay costs associated with the distribution of USDA foods donated for use in The Emergency Food Assistance Program(TEFAP). Such costs include (but are not limited to)storage, transportation, handling, processing, and distribution of such foods; as well as costs associated with determining and verifying beneficiary eligibility, record keeping, auditing, and other administrative procedures required for program participation. To date, the Nevada Food Distribution Program has purchased freezers, refrigerators, shelvings, ship cartons, ice chests, pallet jacks, utility carts, tuff sheds, forklifts, boxes, cabinets, hand truck, and storage racks which will be shipped to contracted agencies that distribute the food.
Project Description: During the current period, The Food Distribution Program used TEFAP Administrative funds provided through ARRA to purchase equipment necessary to transport, handle, store and process TEFAP foods in preparation for ultimate distribution to program participants, which include persons living in households with incomes below the poverty level and the unemployed. 100% of the funds were used to purchase equipments which will be shipped to contracted agencies that distribute the food.
