Award Description: The City is upgrading the water system by removing and replacing deteriorated cast-iron water mains and lead services. This will also include replacing and added additional hydrants adjacent to the new water main and upsizing existing water mains to meet fire flow protection requirements.
Project Description: Water main, water services, and hydrants have been installed on 3 city blocks. Trenches have been backfilled with gravel.
Infrastructure Description: The funding expended is helping to preserve jobs and promote economic recovery in the area. The new water main improvements will improve the utilities efficiency, improve the environment and local resident health. The project will provide long-term economic benefits. The low interest rate loan will stabilize the local government budgets and avoid reductions in essential services.
