Award Description: To support the preservation of jobs that are threatened by declines in philanthropic and other support during the current economic downturn.
Project Description: The grant will be used to support 2 essential positions directly related to our core missions of educational outreach and collections care and interpretation. Two individuals will be working under this grant. They are devoting most of their attention to developing collection-based educational materials, and reinstalling the Gallery's collection of Ancient Art. This grant supports a popular program designed to complement New York State's 6th-10th grade social studies curriculum. Currently, all 6th graders from the Rochester City School District, plus thousands of students from across the region, take advantage of this program, which explores ancient, medieval and Renaissance art.
