Award Description: Highway Infrastructure Investment Grant: Mandatory Transportation Enhancements
Project Description: This is a transportation enhancement project in Atlanta, Fulton County. This project proposes to improve accessibility, mobility and safety by connecting to a bike and pedestrian system that is planned for the entire midtown area. Upon its completion, the project will result in enhanced pedestrian connectivity between existing and proposed residential, retail, and commercial properties, Piedmont Park, and the future Symphony Hall. Proposed improvements include such pedestrian enhancements as wider sidewalks, bike lanes, planted trees, trash receptacles, and street lighting. In addition, the project includes pedestrian intersection improvements at the 14th Street and Piedmont Road intersection, and Crescent Avenue intersections with 12th, 13th and Juniper Streets. Improved pedestrian crosswalks are also proposed at 14th Street and 14th Place and a mid-block on Crescent Avenue between 12th Street and 13th Street.
