Award Description: The overall goal of the proposal is to investigate the action of duplex RNAs that are complementary to gene promoters.

Project Description: Regions beyond the terminus of the 3'-UTR have received little attention. The proposed research will accelerate the tempo of scientific research because it will expand the range potential targets for small RNAs and allow more control over gene expression. 3' regions and focus more attention on 3' regions as areas that might affect gene transcription. The support will enable the hiring of one additional technician and one additional postdoctoral fellow or graduate student.
