Award Description: The acquisition of a 3000-Gallon Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Vehicle at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT) will provide the most effective firefighting capabilities to the Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting crews at our airport. This new ARFF vehicle complies with current National Fire Protection Association and Federal Aviation Regulations and continues to ensure the safety of the flying public at MHT. This vehicle will replace a 20 year old ARFF vehicle. The latest engineering practices in design are incorporated for the highest level of efficiency and safety for the ARFF crew, with safety enhancements that will allow effective fire fighting on all areas of our airfield without compromising the safety of our personnel. The new ARFF vehicle will be equipped with a Driver Enhanced Vision System (DEVS). The forward looking infrared system will provide an enhancement to low visivility including operation during total darkness, fog, severe weather, and fire fighting operations in thick smoke. The award of this contract has the added benefit of creating and/or retaining jobs which will also serve to spur the economic recovery in this action.
