Award Description: The Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office currently uses portable radios that operate on a UHF bandwidth. We are unable to communicate outside of our jurisdiction. This grant is for the purchase of 800 mhz radios. The new radios will give us interoperability with other agencies in the state of kansas, as well as our neighboring counties. It will provide for a much safer condition for the Deputies using them, and will also give them the opportunity to talk with other users. We will also have communications with other agencies during any request for aid during a disaster.
Project Description: We have purchased the new 800 mhz radios and have them in use. They have given us the ability to communicate with other agencies all over the state of Kansas, and so far we have talked up to 100 miles away.
