Award Description: The department will purchase one new patrol unit to replace an existing high mileage, high maintenance unit. Patrol units are used to answer emergency 911 calls, respond to motor vehicle accidents and citizen complaints, criminal patrols for narcotic interdiction, serve civil and criminal papers, transport inmates to and from court and other duties that are the legal responsibilities of the Sheriff's Office.
Project Description: The Sheriff's Dept. is awaiting approval of the new FY2009-10 Louisiana State Contract before purchasing these vehicles. As soon as the contract is in place, the purchases will be made. The Sheriff;s Dept. anticipates this to be completed in the last quarter of 2009. Purchase of these vehicles will reduce current maintenance cost to the department and give officers reliable vehicles to carry out their duties in the parish.
