Award Description: The Norfolk County has agreed to use Fiscal Year 2009 Local Jag Funds to fund projects in (14) jurisdictions. All Cities and Towns have agreed to the allocation of funds. The City of Quincy will be the fiscal agent for the award and will utilize $3,000.00 of the funds for administrative costs. The City of Quincy will use the remaining $204,744.90 in the following manner: $107,940.00 for critical training needed by all Officers. $96,804.90 will be used for salaries for Police Officers. The Town of Avon will use $3,525.00 to purchase 3 patrol rifles, $6,780.00 to purchase 4 lap top computers and $1,950.00 to purchase a radar unit. The Town of Bellingham will use $11,266.20 to update three mobile data terminals including all hardware and software. The Braintree Police Department will use $48,605.40 to purchase two Ford Crown Victoria marked police cruisers. The town of Brookline Police Department will use $86,749.20 to purchase hardware and software for its personnel affording them the ability to efficiently utilize the latest technology and software. The Town of Canton Police Department plans on utilizing the funds ($25,107.30) for a minimum of five officers in different regionalized or partnered capacities. Three of the Officers will attend training monthly for MetroLEC, while the other two will work various days in productive task forces with our respective Federal partners (DEA and FBI). The Town of Dedham will use $1,000.00 to fund 2 training services for liquor license holders regarding their responsibilities as liquor license holders. Dedham will also use $8,978.30 to provide funds for patrol/training costs beyond normal duty. The Town of Foxborough will use $21,888.90 to purchase new equipment for their cruisers. The equipment includes rifle, vests, gun racks, PBT's and digital cameras. The Town of Norwood Police Department will use $12,796.05 in OT for investigations. They will also use $2,000.00 for a security monitor and $1,400.00 for a ballistic shield. The Town of Plainville will use $7,157.00 for OT for Officers and detectives, which may include training time. The remaining $2,500.00 will be used to purchase basic equipment, such as entry tools, additional camera equipment, and evidence collection and processing supplies. The Town of Weymouth will use $54,560.70 to purchase 2 marked police cruisers. The Randolph Police Department will use $69,528.60 to purchase the pollowing equipment: 25 portable police radios ($31,250.00), 10 mobile police radios($29,000.00) and $9,278.60 for a video camera surveillance system. The Town of Stoughton will use $5,047.14 for personnel. It will be used towards extra-directed patrols during the next three years. $46,616.00 will be used to purchase the following equipment: surveillance equipment, 6 digital audio recorders, 55 ear/eye protection for firearms training, advanced firearm targets, 1 decibel noise meter, 2 handheld metal detectors, 1 automatic license plate reader, 1 lidar unit, 3 handheld radar units and 5 fingerprint kits. The Town of Wellesley Police Department will use $9,657.00 on personnel. They will allocate the funds to 50 additional hours of OT for drug investigations.
Project Description: This quarter the Norwood Police Department used funds to purchase a ballistic shield for $1,200.00 and also used $2,826.84 in Overtime for two Detectives to follow up on criminal investigations. The Wellesley Police Department utilized $2,296.46 to pay two Detectives Overtime to investigate narcotics cases. It has allowed the Wellesley Police Department to fulfill its objective of increasing the effectiveness of their drug enforcement operations.
