Award Description: Invest in public transportation by constructing two Maintenance Facilities in The Woodlands. This project will use $1,679,525 of FY 2009 Section 5307 ARRA funds for two Maintenance Facilities in The Woodlands, Texas. $929,525 of the allocated funds will be used for the construction of the Bus Maintenance Facility that will accommodate a fleet of 25 to 30 vehicles and will include a washing station. $750,000 will be used for the construction of the Water Taxi Maintenance Facility that will accommodate a fleet of 6 water taxis.
Project Description: In order to keep the buses and water taxis in optimal running condition, two maintenance facilities are required in The Woodlands to support the bus and water taxi operations.
Jobs Summary: As a result of the project approximately 20 jobs will be created during construction of the terminal/parking garage. Jobs will be related to the construction industry such as roofers, concrete and steel workers, project supervisors, electricians, and general construction laborers.
