Award Description: Amtrak will use grant funds per the guidelines of the 2009 DHS ARRA Transit Security Grant Program - Law Enforcement grant to deploy three four-person Mobile Screening Teams and four canine officers within the Amtrak Police and Security Department to add another layer security protection to the national passenger rail system, its passengers, employees and users of its stations and facilities. Grant funds will pay personnel costs for 16 officers for a 36 month period plus outfit them with standard and specialized equipment to carry out their appointed duties.
