Award Description: The Texas Council on Family Violence (TCFV) promotes safe and healthy relationships by supporting service providers, facilitating strategic prevention efforts, and creating opportunities for freedom from domestic violence. TCFV works to expand and strengthen the statewide network of domestic violence agencies to enhance their ability to reach more victims, provide high quality service delivery and ultimately, end domestic violence. TCFV will hold an Economic Justice Summit to bring advocates from across the state together to discuss financial issues that directly affect victims of domestic violence. The Summit will support the Recovery Act’s goal to promote economic recovery by utilizing local businesses such as a hotel, restaurants, printers, and transportation services to ensure the training is a success. In addition, the full-time Policy Coordinator position will be retained due to funding under OVW Recovery Act - State Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Coalitions Program Grant. Funding for this position had been significantly decreased and was in jeopardy of being reduced and/or eliminated. The position falls under the Recovery Act’s goal to preserve jobs. This position supports economic issues related to victims and is in alignment with the Economic Justice Summit.
