Award Description: I This grant invests in public transit by purchasing 6 Intercity Buses that will provide meaningful connections to urbanized areas for indiviuals living in rural areas and will provide funding to award construction contracts for Intercity facility improvements.
Project Description: The jobs created based upon the projects in this grant will be in the vehicle manufacturing industry, and construction. The program critieria is in process of final preparation for announcement . Successful RFP's may requrie an additional staff person to administer this program (creating another job).
Infrastructure Description: The projects funded under this grant will invest in public transportation, environmental protection, and other infrastructure that will provide long term benefits.
Jobs Summary: The jobs created based upon the projects in this grant will be in the vehicle manufacturing industry and construction industry. Approximately 88% of the funds associated with this grant will be invested in Intercity Bus purchase and 12% will be invested in the upgrading/renovating Intercity bus facilities. This equates to over $3,000,000 of this grant being invested in jobs to build new Intercity buses and $423,200 to rehabilitate Intercity faciilities. The immediate impact of this investment in public transit is the opportunity for local construction companies to bid on these small construction projects providing jobs for local individuals.
