Award Description: Invest in public transportation by purchasing a total of five new buses for the recipient and sub-recipient, purchasing routing software to improve the efficiency in scheduling trips on ADA paratransit service, performing preventitive maintenance on existing buses and rehabing existing buses, and offseting local costs of operating ADA paratransit service.
Project Description: This grant will allow for the purchase of four 34 foot buses and one bus under 30 feet to replace aging vehicles in the existing fleet and also increase capacity on a fixed route service experiencing a continuing increase in ridership. This grant will also allow transit providers in the urbanized area to purchase routing software which will more efficiently track rider information and schedule trips on ADA paratransit service. The grant will also allow for the preventitive maintenance of ten buses and the rehabilitation of several others. Finally, a portion of the grant will be used to partially fund the cost of operating ADA paratransit service.
