Award Description: Steiner Shipyard,Inc. will obtain and install one Marine Travelift 400C Mobile Boat Hoist at a cost of $2,403,782 ($1,802,836 federal/$600,946 local)to foster efficient, competitive operations and quality ship construction, repair and reconfiguration; and to foster improved employee skills and enchanced productivity.
Project Description: Steiner Shipyard, Inc. received confirmation of grant award from the Maritime Administration for the purchase of one Marine Travelift Model 400 C Mobile Boat Hoist. Order has been placed and estimated delivery date is 02/01/2010. Installation, operator training, and testing is expected to take approximately 15 consecutive working days. Steiner Shipyard will be responsible for cranes, lifts, rigging, lubricants, labor, etc. required for the receipt and initial assembly. Vendor stall will be on-site during assembly and will provide training to shipyard personnel on operation and maintenance. The required deposit was paid using local funds only. No federal funds have been drawn to date.
Infrastructure Description: The dramatic shift in Steiner Shipyard's customer base from shrimp trawlers to offshore vessels due to the decline of the US shrimping industry has caused a dire need for a lift that will enable the company to increase production of such vessels.
