Award Description: Arra - Increase Services to Health Centers.
Project Description: The Johnson Health Center (JHC) has utilized the IDS funding to increase capacity to provide primary health care, behavioral health and dental care to the residents of the City of Lynchburg and the surrounding counties of Bedford, Appomattox, Campbell and Amherst. Johnson staff saw 1218 patients during this quarter bringing the total to 2239 patients since April, 2009. Additional positions provided through the IDS have been filled and includes a full time pediatrician who began work on September 14, 2009 and a part time maintenance worker who began on August 25, 2009. The full time nurse practitioner, part time psychiatrist, and full time case manager hired the first quarter continue with JHC. In addition, the dental hygienist who expanded her work week by one day continues to see new patients.
