Award Description: A total of 5 AmeriCorps programs will engage 95 AmeriCorps members in providing services to meet needs in Michigan communities in the areas of health access, education, disaster preparedness, and services to the homeless population. Goals include: 146 clients will receive services related to home foreclosure prevention and housing assistance, with at least 80 individuals being able to successfully remain in their homes. 780 individuals will receive 2500 hours of tutoring and literacy services. 772 non-AmeriCorps community volunteers will be recruited to provide services to 480 individuals. In addition to the 95 members (who have not yet all begun service), approximately 30 member and 8 staff positions will be retained with the additional funding.
