Award Description: This is a modification to an existing construction contract no. 08CC603730, awarded 9/9/2009, full and open competition. This modification provides American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) funding for needed changes in the work to be performed under this contract (Flatiron Power and Pumping Plant, Generators G1 and G2 Rewinds, Colorado). The changes are related to the Thrust Collar and Thrust Runner, and Rebabbitt of Turbine Guide Bearing and Thrust Shoes of the Generators. The completion of this change is part of the reassembly phase of the equipment, which is anticipated to begin on or around October 20, 2009 and be completed on or around end of January 2010. The expected outcome is to improve the reliability of the equipment and place the status of the equipment in good serviceable conditions.

Jobs Summary: 1ea- Field Service Supervisor, 1ea - Millwright Foreman and 2 ea - Machinist/Millwright Positions were retained due to the impact of the Recovery Act funded work listed above and has created approximately 900 additional Manhours of Field related Work for these positions in order for the Prime Recipient and our Sub Recipient to make the necessary improvements to the alignment of the Unit G1 Turbine/Generator at the Flatiron Power and Pumping Plant, and to increase the reliability of the Unit to meet US Government Power and Water distribution needs at this Facility. 2ea- In Shop Machinist Positions were retained due to the impact of the Recovery Act funded work listed above and has created approximately 1000 Manhours of additional Shop related Work for these positions in order for the our Sub Recipient?s Subcontract Machine Shop plus thousands of dollars to their Material Vendors and Service Providers, to make necessary repairs to the Unit G1 and G2 Generator rotational alignment and bearing components that had failed at the Flatiron Power and Pumping Plant, and to increase the reliability of the Units to meet US Government Power and Water distribution needs at this Facility.
