Award Description: The YouthBuild grant will support 24 youth in striving to attain their General Education Diploma (GED) while learning leadership skills to make them successful leaders in their communities.
Project Description: Youthbuild - This program creates opportunity for underserved youth to obtain GED and occupational skills. They will also have the opportunity to connect with WIA and participate in leadership training.
Jobs Summary: Education Manager provides instruction to participants in preparation for attaining a General Education Diploma (GED). Leadership/Job Placement Manager creates opportunities for participants to grow into leaders in their communities and find meaningful employment or enroll in post secondary education. Program Manager monitors and manages program activities, progress and outcomes of the Youthbuild program. Construction Manager provides hands on instruction in construction related activities as well as classroom instruction leading to a National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) certification. Payroll Manager handles financial management, accountability, and reporting on the Youthbuild grant. Executive Director provides overall management of program activities, reporting and sustainability of the Youth build grant. Seven new jobs were created and/or retained using Recovery Act funds. (Total jobs reported: 6)
