Award Description: Region 3 of the General Services Administration is planning for the modernization of The Poff Federal Building in Roanoke, Virginia. The building house both courts and the Veterans Administration. To support the effort, TranSystems/DPK&A recently completed a Prospectus Development Study (PDS). The purpose of the study was to develop a multi-component report that includes a Feasibility Study, a Program of requirements (POR), and a Project Plan. The Project Plan identified the scope, schedule, and budget required to deliver the modernization project. Based on the PDS, there is an anticipated budget of 42 Mil in Construction Costs. The scope of work includes a full replacement of the two expansive curtain walls, the introduction of geothermal heating and other energy saving improvements. TranSystems/DPK&A has joined with William McDonough + Partners for the delivery of this project. McDonough is among the country's leading Green Architects. The modernization project is intended to achieve LEED Silver Certification.
