Award Description: Recovery ACT Weatherization Award for State of Ohio
Project Description: Weatherization program provides services to low-income households in Ohio to reduce energy costs. The Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP) weatherized over 2,000 homes with ARRA funds in the state of Ohio since July 1st, 2009. The HWAP program has also hired over 300 additional weatherization technicians, inspectors, and HVAC technicians while retaining over 500 weatherization based jobs. HWAP has also hired in almost 500 new contractor based positions while retaining almost 1,000 contractor based positions. The program with ARRA funds has purchased several trucks and vans, infrared cameras, blower doors, combustion analyzers, insulation blowing machines, and additional safety equipment among the various items being purchased. Additional training courses have been added to the Corporation for Ohio Appalachian Development (COAD) training center to meet demand due to the considerable increase of crew and contractor based personnel hiring.
