Award Description: The CIP ARRA funds have been designated by Vista Community Clinic for the following four projects: 1) Equipment only project -- purchase of equipment necessary to complete the equipping and furnishing of the newly constructed Grapevine clinic site, and purchase of 2 7-passanger vans for our patient transportation program, 2) Horne Street Roof Project -- replace roof at Horne Street Clinic site, 3) VCC Certified EMR Project -- fully implement the nextgen electronic medivcal records software (previously purchased, but not yet implemented) throughout the organization, and 4) HIT Project -- transition the Dental Department from a manual written chart to an electronic chart and purchase a variety of other HIT hardware and software in order to increase connectivitiy and efficiency organization-wide.
Project Description: As of September 30, Vista Community Clinic has made the following progress of the four ARRA CIP projects: 1) VCC completed the purchase of the equipment for the Grapevine clinic site, with the van purchase scheduled for October/November 2009; 2) The Horne Street Roof project has not yet been started because of requirements of the federal government (relating to hisotrical significance analysis). State of Claifornia Historic Preservation Office has been contacted and a letter is expected within the next 30 days; 3) VCC is working towards its first EMR site go-live scheduled for December 2009 of the prenatal department. Project teams are meeting weekly and IT support staff and trainers have been hired, and; 4) the HIT project jas not yet been started.
Infrastructure Description: To complete stated objectives of ARRA CIP grant, which are to fund needed clinic site equipment, replace roof of existing clinic site, fully implement EMR within the organization, and implement a Dental electronic records and purchase HIT equipment and software in order to increase connectivity and efficiency organization-wide. These onjectives contribute to the stated objectives of the Recovery Act Capital Improvement Program (CIP) grants which are to support the construction, repair and renovation of over 1,500 health center sites nationwide.
