Award Description: Basic Off-Road and Urban Driver Training Course for 20 to 60 deploying military observers from all branches of the Armed Forces, including the Coast Guard. Deploying personnel serve un remoste sites overseas with road systems that are extremely poor and hazardous. Deploying officers receive basic off-road and urban driver training as a force protection measure. This course prepares drivers to safely and successfully operate HICOG (high center of gravity) 4X4 vehicles in remote and harsh off-road terrain and urban terrain. 3-Day course includes multiple methods of recovery and hasty field repair for stuck or stranded vehicles. Students learn and practice hazard awareness and crash avoicance drills in emergency situations. Students practice single vehicle evasive driving in an urban environment that includes vehicle ramming.
