Award Description: Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program: The purpose is to provide financial assistance and services to either prevent individuals and families from becoming homeless or help those who are experiencing homelessness to become quickly re-housed and stabilized. The State of Minnesota expects to prevent homelessness for 1,700 households and end homelessness for 800 households in the period October 1, 2009 through September 30, 2011. HPRP subgrantees (nonprofits and local units of government) will be providing a combination of financial assistance and services to individuals and families who are homeless or about to become homeless.
Project Description: The State of Minnesota plans to use HPRP funds for both homelessness prevention and rapid re-housing. During the past quarter, the State of Minnesota completed a competitive request for proposals process to determine the most qualified providers of HPRP services. The State of Minnesota has allocated funds to 31 subgrantees covering all areas of the state except for those jurisdictions which receive their own HPRP funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Subgrantees include 30 nonprofits and one local unit of government. The State of Minnesota expects to prevent homelessness for 1,700 households and end homelessness for 800 households in the period October 1, 2009 through September 30, 2011. HPRP subgrantees will be providing a combination of financial assistance and services to individuals and families who are homeless or about to become homeless.
