Award Description: CAREER: Biomolecular Interactions that Regulate the Cellular Response to DNA Damage

Project Description: We have nearly completed mass spectrometry experiments to characterize the conformation and dynamics of UmuD, a cleaved form, and another variant of the protein. These experiments confirm that UmuD is a highly dynamic protein. We are now beginning a similar analysis of the beta clamp, an interacting partner of UmuD, in anticipation of analysis of the complex of the two proteins.
