Award Description: Rental assistance payments
Project Description: This 33-unit Section 8 Project-based facility in Stewartstown Borough, PA consists of one, two, and three-bedroom townhouses which are homes to low-income individuals and families. USDA and HUD approve the contract rents for these units. The tenants pay a portion of their income towards the rent. HUD pays the project the difference between the rents collected from the tenants and the approved rents for the occupied units each month. HUD used ARRA money to pay this subsidy, allowing the project to continue its normal operations. For the year ended June 30, 2009, the project received 78% of all revenue from HUD in the form of Housing Assistance Payments
Jobs Summary: No new jobs were created. We have a full-time Property Manager who devotes approximately 60% of her time to this site and a full-time Maintenance Mechanic who devotes approximately 95% of his time to this site. During times of multiple turnovers, we may assign other staff members to assist at the site on a temporary basis. HUD used ARRA funds to pay the monthly Section 8 rental assistance payments to the project. Without the subsidy, the project would not have been able to continue its operations.
