Award Description: The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is a work training program for unemployed mature workers who are 55+ and are at or below 125% of the poverty guidelines. SCSEP will use funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) to support additional training and employment opportunities for eligible SCSEP participants. Funding from the Recovery Act will be used to expand the number of SCSEP participants assigned to community service work, especially in applicable growth industries. The goal is to provide a direct stimulus to the economies of local communities served and to upgrade participants job readiness skills.
Project Description: Ongoing support of the SCSEP program in all of our 22 states and Puerto Rico. We quickly recruited over 2500 participants, some 600 more than the dollars allocated by formula forecast. In this period, we exited 341 for employment and started 3312. These participants provided over 300 thousand hours of community service to over 1000 non-profit community agencies nationwide. We expended over 5 million dollars in direct payments to these participants for the hours spent in training
Jobs Summary: We used existing staff resources. We placed 341 program participants in jobs (Total jobs reported: 0)
Project Status: Less Than 50% Completed
