Award Description: The purpose of the grant is to provide eligible participants with basic, core and training services that help them in obtaining the necessary skills and preparation to get a job. ervices available include on-the-job trainings, custumize training, and classroom trainings among others. Also, other activities related to participants training and grant administration are perform under the grant. Also, the funds provide for the creation of job opportunities, including summer oportinities for youth,

Project Description: We are confident that these goals will support and encourage a high level of service to all job seekers in Puerto Rico served with ARRA funds. The Commonwealth’s performance goals are based on the negotiated WIA goals: Adults Entered Employment Rate 84.0%, Adult Program Retention Rate 90.0%, Adult Program Earnings Change/Average Earnings $6,200, Dislocated Workers Entered Employment 86.0%, Dislocated Workers Retention 91.0%, Dislocated Workers Average Earnings $7,000, Youth Work Readiness Rate 70.0%.

Jobs Summary: Total jobs created thrugh the Youth (4,482), Adult (134), and Dislocated Workers (279) totaled 4,895 for the quarter ended September 30, 2009. The mayotity of the jobs created were with the funds of the WIA Youth program through the summer employment opportunities to the youth population throughout the local areas through Puerto Rico. Also, summer employment opportunities were created as part of the statewide activities. The job creation have a positive effect on PR's economy by providing new job opportinuties to the youth population which would have not been available otherwise. The type of jobs created included many related to green jobs type of employments. Also, the retention of jobs, including administrative positions and services positiond like counselors, case managers, and service representatives. (Total jobs reported: 4,895)
