Award Description: This grant includes the purchase of fleet vehicles/rolling stock at $23,218,679, the construction & reconstruction of transit facilities at $7,269,231, and the purchase of IT equipment at $2,332,000 for a total grant amount of $32,819,910.
Project Description: 1) RFP was issued, 2) Contract with National Bus through HGAC, 3) Completed bid documents and plans. Advertised for bid on 9/27/09, 4) 11 of 12 buses ordered have been delivered, 5) All buses have been delivered, 6) All of our vehicles were constructed and delivered during this quarter, 7) Construction of Shelters, 8) Excavation, foundation, electrical, and plumbing @ Wharton, repairs @ Columbus, 9) Assembly line construction, 10) 2 vehicles delivered, 1 will be delivered next week, 11) Revising the budget delayed the ordering process of this vehicles - EDD is 11/15/09, 12) Schematic design completed and design development ongoing. Design development included discussions with the City of San Angelo during August and September to explore the feasibility of the City housing community and social services on the site in a new building which would be constructed by the City. The feasibility study of this option was performed by the City, using its funding, and was completed the end of September with the City deciding to take another option. Variances from the City are being sought to address building set-back and on-street bus parking, 13) Contract Award/Vehicles Ordered, 14) no construction to date. Contract services with The Goodman Corporation for design, contract documents, etc., 15) Purchase Order issued awaiting vehicle delivery in the next quarter, 16) Purchase of Vehicles, 17) IFB Issued - Pending Award, 18) Purchase of 10 vehicles - Vehicles delivered, payment made, vendor paid. Necessary inspections were performed - Vehicles have been placed in service.
Infrastructure Description: Preserving and creating jobs, thereby promoting economic recovery, specifically those in the bus manufacturing industry, the IT industry and in the building industry. Increasing the infrastructure of the transit industry will allow the transit industry to provide more rides, allowing riders to get to and from jobs in a reliable manner. Assisting those affected negatively by the recession, by providing efficient, reliable and inexpensive transportation.
