Award Description: The award of the Capital Fund ARRA Formula Grant includes the implementation of eight major work categories consisting of dwelling structure rehabilitation work and the promotion of energy efficiency. On one hundred units we will be removing the old gravel roof and replacing it with a new thirty year shingle roof. In three hundred eleven units we will remove the old VCT flooring and replace it with a new one. In eight hundred fifty seven units we will be installing water efficient closets. In two hundred thirty units we will be removing the existing tubs along with the old drain pipes and installing a shower surround with tile trim and new PVC drain pipes. On three hundred nine units we will be replacing the existing windows with 5/8? double insulated glass, low E and energy star compliant windows. On one hundred thirty one units we will be scraping off all pealing paint then priming and painting the soffit, fascia, exterior water closets, storage rooms, exterior doors, and the porch area. In four hundred five units we will be replacing the bath exhaust fans. In two hundred thirty five units we will be replacing the current appliance with either an Energy Star refrigerator or stove. These work items will be completed with the retention of our current force account employees and the addition of new employees.
Project Description: In twenty eight units at TX011000001 Colonia Guadalupe we are removing the old VCT flooring and installing new VCT flooring. In eight units at TX011000002 Russell Terrace we have removed the existing tub, tile and old drain pipes and replaced them with a new shower surround and PVC drain pipes. On thirty four units at TX011000002 Russell Terrace we have removed the existing gravel roof and replaced it with a thirty year shingle roof. On thirty units at TX011000003 Carlos Richter we have scrapped off all pealing paint, primed and painted all storage rooms, soffit, fascia, exterior doors and porch area. On thirty one units at TX011000004 Meadow Elderly we have scrapped off all pealing paint, primed and painted all exterior doors, soffit, fascia and porches.
Infrastructure Description: To preserve and create jobs while rehabilitating public housing units.
