Award Description: Government Services Fund - for public safety and other government services, which may include assistance for elementary and secondary education and public institutions of higher education, and for modernization, renovation, or repair of public school facilities and institutions of higher education facilities, including modernization, renovation, and repairs that are consistent with a recognized green building rating.
Project Description: The Government Services Fund portion of the State Fiscal Stabilization Fund has been applied to the Colorado State Department of Corrections and two postsecondary institutions, the University of Denver and Regis University. For each program, the intent of the award was to stabilize the budgets and avoid further cuts. Less than 50% of the available funds have been paid out and future awards to each program will help to avoid job cuts and maintain vital state support consistent with ARRA.
Jobs Summary: The Recovery Act State Fiscal Stabilization Fund - Government Service Fund funded correctional jobs within the Department of Corrections (DOC) are responsible for supervising and managing violent and non-violent offenders. Security and Housing personnel are responsible for monitoring, inspecting, searching, directing, transporting and restraining offenders; maintaining equipment, keeping inventories of keys, tools, and weapons; and conducting physical searches of persons and facilities to control contraband.
