Award Description: Educational Technology State Grants to States to improve student academic achievement through the innovative use and the effective integration of new and emerging technology with teacher training, curriculum development, and successful research-based instructional methods in elementary and secondary schools.
Project Description: 0% of the funds will be distributed by formula. 100% of the funds will be distributed in a competitive grant program entitled Teaching And Learning with Essential New Technologies in the 21st Century (TALENT21). The goals of this grant program are in response to the urgent need to prepare students with the knowledge and skills critical for success in postsecondary education and the 21st century workplace. The TALENT21 grant project will assist schools in establishing 21st century learning environments in grades six and seven that blend physical and digital infrastructures to seamlessly support learning by; providing high speed wireless Internet access to all sixth- and seventh-grade students and their teachers in selected schools through the provision of a one-to-one wireless mobile computing environment; and offering intensive professional development for teachers and administrators to assist with the effective integration of technology and 21st century skills and themes across content standards areas.Non-administrative activities include technical assistance and training for the TALENT21 grant, grant evaluation, and grant reporting.
Infrastructure Description: This is not applicable to Enhancing Education through Technology, Recovery Act.
