Award Description: Invest in public transportation by purchasing new 40ft and 60ft hybrid bus, new small buses, renovate and expand the bus storage facility, purchase adjacent property for bus storage facility expansion, rehabilitate large buses, make improvements to a bus stop location, purchase bus shelters, and facility improvements to the maintenance garage.

Project Description: This grant has allowed CATA to begin improving its maintenance and storage facility. Funds were used to recoat the floor in the maintenance area and to purchase adjacent land needed for bus storage facility expansion. The floor recoating will improve safety and working conditions for our maintenance employees. Expanding the bus storage facility will allow CATA to preserve the useful life of the buses.

Jobs Summary: This grant funded the new floor coating in the maintenance facility. Over 13 employees worked on the job during a three-week period. The work was completed in July. As a result of these funds the agency’s contractor performing the work on the floor coating was able to continue to employ 13 people that might otherwise have been laid off had work not been available. (Total jobs reported: 2)
