Award Description: Invest in public transportation by purchasing new buses, replacing a roof on the existing administrative and maintenance facility, add surveillance equipment to the same facility, purchase yard maintenance, vehicle diagnostic equipment and fuel pumps, purchase scheduling/dispatching software, and upgrade computer hardware.
Project Description: This grant will allow the transit agency to purchase two replacement buses that are handicapped accessible, improve fleet safety by upgrading our maintenance capability, provide a greater measure of security for the public and employees using our facilities and provide needed renovations affecting the long term viability of our current administrative/maintenance facility.
Infrastructure Description: The Steel Valley RTA grant will purchase two buses, provide repairs to its present administrative/maintenance complex, enhance the security system, acquire additional maintenance and diagnostic equipment, and purchase route scheduling/dispatching software and related computer equipment. The projects funded under this grant will invest in transportation, environmental protection, and other infrastructure that wil provide long term economic benefits. These investments will also contribute to preserving and maintaining jobs and economic recovery in the various segments to include vehicle manufacturing and construction industry.
