Award Description: To invest in Public Transit by purchasing two replacement 40' low floor public transit buses. These buses meet or exceed current Clean Air Act (CAA) standards and the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements and will have a service life of at least 12 years or 500,000 miles. In additon GDRTA is also using funds to perform preventive maintenance on existing buses, facilities and equipment to ensure that all assets are properly maintained. Both of these projects will improve customer comfort and operating efficiencies. It is anticipated that both projects will also help retain jobs in the public transit / vehicle production industries.
Project Description: Since the award of funds GDRTA has completed the preventitive maintenance project which has resulted in both the retention on jobs and the proper upkeep of federally funded assets. This will lead to greater operational efficiencies and passenger comfort. In addtion we exercised an existing option from our vehicle manufacturer and the replacement buses being funded with this grant are on order.
