Award Description: ARRA -- Increased Demand for Services (IDS) award. IDS funds allows for increased access by expanding hours of service.
Project Description: The overall purpose of the grant was to increase access by adding evening and Saturday hours. By increasing medical and supporting staff to cover expanded hours, we were able to increase the number of new patients seeking clinic appointments. Beginning in early June, we added two evenings and a half day Saturday to our family practice schedule. In September, a .3FTE pediatrician was added. Since extended hours began (June '09 - September '09), a total of 640 new patients have been seen compared to 400 patients during the previous 4 month period. Of those 640 new patients, 128 were associated with IDS grant funds. Of that 128, approximately 26 were uninsured.
Jobs Summary: Two .3FTE provider positions were created (family practice and pediatrician) as well as a .2FTE RN and a .5FTE MA. A .4FTE front office person was added to cover the additional hours. (Total jobs reported: 2)
Project Status: Less Than 50% Completed
