Award Description: The purpose of this award is to create a more effective outreach program in our rural, sparsely populated county about the primary health care services available at De Baca Family Practice Clinic. The program is aimed at reaching people who live in more remote areas of the county and who would benefit from the financial assistance programs we offer. The award was also purposed to extend the hours in our dental office.
Project Description: During this quarter, we hired one .80 Scrub Assistant in the dental office in an effort to improve patient flow. The Scrub Assistant cleans each operatory following a procedure allowing the dental team to move more freely from one operatory to another without having to stop and clean it themselves. The addition of an Regional Outreach Coordinator last April has made great strides in increasing awareness about our services and financial assistance programs. From May to the end of August, the number of applicants for Sliding Fee increased by 105% over prior months and 160% over the same time period from last year.
Jobs Summary: Regional Outreach Coordinator - This full time position works directly for the CEO in designing and implementing an outreach program that includes developing notices in local papers about the primary health care services offered at our Clinic, reviewing and making necessary changes to our Sliding Fee Program so that the process and materials are user friendly and easy to understand, designing and implementing a program that provides flyers that are sent home with school students and newspaper notices about upcoming health issues such as immunization clinics, flu shot availability and financial assistance programs available. An integral part of this program is to research better ways to reach the more distant and rural areas of our community with information about our services, a challenge we've been hard pressed to meet in the past. The results of these efforts thus far have been significant, particularly in oral health care. As a result of this increase in demand in our Dental office, we've also created a second .80 position for a Scrub Assistant. The Scrub Assistant cleans operatories following each procedure so that patient flow is much faster and the dentist and assistant can see more patients in a day. (Total jobs reported: 2)
