Award Description: The Rough Rock Community School (RRCS) is funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) and provides funding directly to the Construction, Improvement and Repairs of the Education Buildings and Living Quarters to hire and/rehire career Administrative Personnels, Consultants, and all Division Trades of construction in effort to create and preserve jobs, and to increase their community policing capacity and concerns.
Project Description: The Rough Rock Community School project includes the award of phase 1 elementary dorm construction. The tasks completed this quarter includes bid and award of subcontracts preconstruction meetings, material and equipment procurement, construction of surveying, sitework, site utilities, demolitions, concrete and underground utilities. The architect and engineers have provided construction administration and inspection services. This quarter the Rough Rock Community School including School/Council Board and community members attended the new construction ground breaking ceremony with distinguish guests. They included the Navajo Nation President Dr. Joe Shirley Jr., Assistant Secretary of Interior Mr. Larry Echo Hawk, and various representives of the local community, Navajo Nation Council Delegates, County Officials, and the BIA/BIE local agency, Region Office, Albuquerque OFMC. This partnership has been beneficial for both the department and the community.
Jobs Summary: Community School Project Phase 1 Dorm Consrtuction has created 60 jobs, full and part time, and they include the school administration, school project manager and secretary, architect and engineers, inspector, construction contractor project managers, engineers, superintendents, secretary, schedulers, quality assurance, carpenters, and subcontracters personnel for surveyor, sitework, site utilities, concrete, plumbing, and electrical.
