Award Description: The Increased Demand for Services funds will allow JTCHC to hire 5.5 new staff. New staff will include (1) full-time ARNP, (1) full-time outreach worker, (1) full-time health navigator, (1) full-time customer service representative, (1) full-time administrative assistant/data analyst, and (1) part-time dentist. The funds will impact our capacity to serve many more of the uninsured, attract increased numbers of new patients and visits. Potential patients will be informed, and given assistance in securing required health services, and any available public insurance to mitigate some of the hardships that exists. The additional ARNP will facilitate OB/GYN services being provided full-time at four (4) of our primary care sites. This will allow improved access, consistent care throughout the prenatal/postnatal process, improved health education and health outcomes for more mothers and infants. We project that we will provide 710 unduplicated users with 2,970 visits over the project period.
Project Description: New staff positions created have provided 'direct impact' to our capacity by serving an additional 1,190 uninsured, attracting 1,305 new patients and 1,377 additional visits. New positions filled this quarter are the Medical Assistant and Outreach Worker. The Medical Assistant is providing direct support to our OB program. The Outreach Worker coordinates her effort in conjunction with our Perinatal Coordinator informing the communities served of the improved access, consistent care throughout the prenatal/postnatal process, improved health education and health outcomes for mothers and infants. A Notice of Grant Award came in during the third (3rd) week of September increasing our award for Increase Demand for Services grant and will report in the next update how these funds are being spent.
