Award Description: Invest in public transportation by purchasing replacement and expansion units for a commuter vanpool program, purchasing staff administrative vehicles to assist with marketing, new route selection and accident investigation, and performing preventive maintenance on transit vehicles and facilities.
Project Description: This grant allowed Douglas County to purchase ten 15-passenger vans, with which Douglas County was able to upgrade its fleet of vehicles and at the same time provide additional vanpool routes to serve area commuters. Also, the grant provided funds for preventive maintenance for the Douglas County van fleet and transit-related facilities, which improved safety and service to commuters.
