Award Description: Invest in public transportation by purchasing nine new low-floor BRT replacement buses, security cameras, solar trash receptacles and public art. The nine replacement buses will meet the Clean Air Act (CAA) standards and the Americans with Disabilities (ADA) requirements. The security cameras will provide the new simulator room with continual observation and will also provide surveillance for the fuel storage area. The solar trash receptacles will be placed in high use areas on the City bus routes, thus reducing the number of pickups necessary and with the compaction feature of the trash receptacles, reduce the volume of materials send to the local landfill. The proposed public are will be constructed from recycled metal from transit buses.
Project Description: A purchase order has been issue for the 9 buses and a purchasse order has been issued to purchase the cameras for the simulator training room and fuel storage area. Anticipated delivery date for the buses is April 2010 and for the cameras and related items is November 2009.
