Award Description: Invest in Public Transportation by purchasing hydrid-electric buses, and rubber tired vehicles(Trolleys) for use on the island routes, procurement of Park & Ride facility in Palmetto, FL adjacent to the new transfer station now under construction to provide riders who want to travel to and from Sarasota County for work and in the future to Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties when an express bus service is implemented, security funds will provide for Automatic Vehicle Locator systems in each vehicle, cameras, and other surveillance equipment to be installed at the transfer stations throughout the county for the safety of the citizens, procurement and installation of a new higher capacity generator(useful life of 25 years), which will provide power to the main transit facility during an emergency event where there is a loss of power. Funds will also be used to install concrete pads for bus shelters, and additional sidewalk or pads to existing shelters to remain in compliance with ADA regulations.
