Award Description: ARRA Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) and Quality Improvement funding consistent with the provisions of Section 640 (a)(5) of the Head Start Act
Project Description: Project Description ARRA COLA and Quality Funds will be used to: - Hire two full time Family Service Workers. - Improve playground accessibility and safety. - Provide professional development for teaching staff to improve staff qualifications. - Increase the compensation and benefits of staff through a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) to improve the overall quality of the program. - Purchase two busses to improve the quality of our fleet. - Repair roofs at two locations to ensure health and safety. - Purchase security systems for three locations to improve safety. Quarterly Activities: - Two Family Service Workers have been hired. - A partnership was set-up with the University of Toledo to offer and enroll staff members (45) into college courses in Early Childhood Education (ECE), on site at the Head Start administrative building. Additionally, five staff members are enrolled at Owens and Lourdes College for the same purpose. - All staff received a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) effective July 1, 2009. - Two new busses were purchased and have recently arrived. - We received bids for roof repairs at two locations. - We received bids on the fencing at three locations. - Completed fencing at one location.
