Award Description: Washington County was awarded $1,924,400 to fund eight energy efficiency and conservation programs. The DOE-approved programs include the following: Technical Consultant Services, Energy Conservation Educational Program for County/Municipal Personnel, County Recycling Program, Energy Audit of County Owned Buildings and subsequent Building Retrofits, Solar Thermal Hot Water Heater Installation, Revolving Loan Fund, and Municipal Traffic Signal Program. These programs will help propagate the importance of conservation to county and municipal workers, provide site preparation and equipment to set up a permanent drop-off recycling site at a central location, maximize energy savings for the most reasonable costs, help reduce county energy consumption, help businesses, nonprofits, and other entities in the county perform energy-saving improvements, and help fund the conversion of traffic signals in the county to LED bulbs, thus reducing energy consumption.
