Award Description: NSF 08-539 Chemistry Research Instrumentation and Facilities: Departmental Multi-User Instrumentation (CRIF: MU)

Project Description: This funding is for the purchase of a triple-resonance 400 MHz solid-state NMR spectrometer. The specifications for the instrumentation have been finalized. A request for quotations was sent out to several companies in early September, with a request that they be submitted by mid October. Instrument specifications were given to the vendors. Each vendor was encouraged to discuss any questions that they had about the instrument, and several have already been in contact. Once quotations are received in mid October, all anticipated major users will be contacted to discuss the quotations received, and to help assist in the selection process. The site where the instrument will be placed has been finalized. Procedures for managing usage of the instrument as part of the NMR facility have been discussed.
