Award Description: To hire a new position and additional equipment. Ripley Police Department Ripley Police Department Community Oriented Policing Project Goals: 1. To enhance public safety by the addition of police cruisers to the current fleet. 2. To create a more positive relationship between law enforcement and citizens. 3. To enhance efforts to identify possible cases of child abuse and neglect by fostering a multi-agency collaboration between law enforcement and the Child Advocacy Center to support and resolve identified child abuse and neglect issues. Strategies: The Ripley Police Department wishes to enhance the multi-agency collaboration to identify and resolve as many child abuse and neglect issues as possible. By purchasing six additional police cruisers, more frequent patrols will be possible allowing non-emergency interaction between officers and citizens. As a result, possible cases of child abuse and/or neglect will be identified. The Child Advocacy Center will provide educational seminars and programs to both law enforcement and the citizens at risk in an effort to both prevent child abuse and/or neglect and provide support in identified cases. Deliverables and Coordination: In addition to the additional police cruisers that will enhance public safety, a new support worker position at the Child Advocacy Center will be created. This worker?s responsibilities will include: 1. Providing technical support in collecting, entering, tracking, and reporting child victim data in NCAtrak (computerized case tracking system.) 2. Assisting in the coordination of the Child Protective Investigative Team. 3. Ensuring personal advocacy and support services are provided to victims and non-offending caregivers. 4.
