Award Description: The Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles, in an effort to continue to provide safe, clean and affordable housing to low income familiies, will conduct modernization activities at our various public housing developments with the Public Housing Capital Fund Recovery Act Formula Grant. This funding will provide jobs for trademen, architects and engineers, construction managers/workers and product manufacturers. HACLA proposes to utilize this grant for the following projects: fire/water damaged unit repairs, asbestos abatement, floor replacement, and reroofing, security cameras, lights and water energy conservation.
Project Description: Work was performed on the following projects: Repair fire/water damaged units, asbestos abatement/floor replacement and reroofing of public housing buildings, security cameras and lights. These projects will allow the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles to continue on-going modernization and development of its public housing assets.
Jobs Summary: ARRA funding has resulted in the employment of the following positions: asbestos abatement, floor tile, roofing, carpentry, security cameras and lights installation, sprinkler and irrigation installation, architectural and engineering, administration.
