Award Description: This grant assists the State of Minnesota by providing dental care to uninsured and under-insured Minnesotan's. Our expansion includes two dental oral surgery suites, larger lobby, two restrooms, a conference room and additional offices space. We will also improve the tranfer of data from our electronic medical records to the data reporting system like i2i which was cost prohibitive. Some equipment is also included in the grant funding.
Project Description: 1) Insured that mechanical and electric plans were added project plans. 2) Started planning for the next phase to add medical space to this site. 3) Submitted additional document required by HRSA for the project.3) Check pricing and coordinate the purchase of dental equipment. 4) Requested coordinated additional bids for the expansion. 5) Coordinate contractor site visits to make bids. 6) Insured all contractors fulfilled grant guidelines and requirements. 7) Selected lowest bidder McGough Construction.
Infrastructure Description: The infrastructure investment has created jobs for the consultant, the architect firms, mechanical and electronical engineers.
Jobs Summary: Project manager job was created. Coordinated all Federal ARRA requirements and submitted paper work at the State and Federal levels. She also allowed the clinic staff to continue their daily work and help to save money by identifying missing items on the architectual plans (mecanical & electrical), a design build approach that did not include the some items that we were not aware of. This also included work for Meyer Scherer & Rockcastle - 2 plus Afton Architects & Planners - 2; both architual group were able to maintain jobs. Also work provided to Hennepin County and the City of Minneapolis. (Total jobs reported: 6)
