Award Description: Tohono O'odham Nation One Stop Division - Youth
Project Description: As a result of the ARRA funding the One Stop Division will be able to increase enrollment of youth clients and allow us to provide support services to those youth who continuing with their education at the high school level. During the time the youth are in school, we are able to provide opportunities for the youth to enhance their learning and awareness of the workforce by offering intensive internships. Currently the youth are able to attend Survival Skills Workshops that provide development of skills professionally and personally. As an added incentive the youth are awarded for attendance for participation and grades by monetary compensation.
Jobs Summary: Case Manager for the One Stop Division- the ARRA funding has allowed the Division to create an additional Case Manager to help with the increased enrollment of youth. Four individuals are currently in schooling with interest in the health field including: Medical Assistant, Dental Assistant, and Pharmacy Tech. All four are 50% complete and will be employed at the time of completion. The ARRA funding for these four have made a strong impact with respect to the Tribal Reservation, health care for our particular part of the region is a concern and with the funding we are able to increase the workforce ratio of health care worker to patient.
