The North Beach Project, once completed, will provide comprehensive services designed to serve the large number of low to moderate income and early residents in the North Beach area. This target area contains Census track/block groups that displays evidence of greater than 51% of households with incomes at or below 80% of the median income. TheNorth Beach Community Center, once completed, will have approximately 8,000 sq. ft. of program spaces and approximately 10,000 sq. ft. of terraces and walkways. The estimated date of completion for this project is November 2010 and it will provide approximately 100 temporary jobs during the construction phase of the project. 2) The Teen Job Corps Program will provide at risk, low-income youths with employment activities and vocational skills. The program operates six (6) days a week, 52 weeks a year. Eligible program participants are enrolled full-time students, ages 14 to 18 years old, living in the City target area of North and South Beach. These target areas are made of up to 51% or more of low-income residents. Program eligibility involves a comprehensive intake assessment that will determine family income to ensure that the use of CDBG-R funds will principally benefit persons of low and moderate income in a manner that ensures that at least 70 percent fo the grant is expended in activities that benefit such persons during the life of the CDBG-R grant. The CDBG-R funds, in combination with other sources of funds received by The Teen Job Program, will create approximately 20 part-time jobs.
